In book one of the Mary Hardy Series we meet Mary Hardy, the widow of a murdered Texas Ranger, as she teams up with Texas Ranger Jack Reynolds.
Jack is on the trail of the Moss Gang after they murder everyone on a stagecoach. Hardy insists he take her along, and she is instrumental in finding and killing Moss in a gun battle.
Jack takes Hardy to Austin and introduces her to Texas Ranger Captain McAnelly where she is hired as the first female Texas Ranger.
She then sets off with Jack on a series of adventures while a romance blooms between them. As circumstances threaten to drive them apart they begin to wonder if they can manage both their personal lives and their professional jobs as Texas Rangers.

A VERY GOOD BOOK. WELL WRITTEN, WITH ACTION AND ADVENTURE. VERY GOOD STORY LINE. I'D SAY IT IS A WESTERN, WITH SOME ROMANCE. SOME THINGS HAPPEN TOO FAST TO BE BELIEVABLE, YET BELIEVABLE, CONSIDERING THE TIME AND PLACE. I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN A DIFFERENT ENDING, BUT THIS DOES LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN FOR A SERIES, TO FOLLOW. Enjoyed reading this book from cover to cover (kindle). I normally don't read westerns that have a lot of female involvement in story, but this book was definitely very enjoyable. Will be sure to read other books in the Hardy series.
i have read all the Mountain Woman books and now have started on the Hardy Texas Ranger books. i love Johnny Fowlers writing his book are and easy read.
It has been an enjoyment reading about Mary Hardy again. It is a book that you can always read again. Will there be another book to this series? Would like to read more about the three couples plus Uncle Henry.

Excellent book for me. Plenty of action, several growing love situations with three male texas rangers and one female ranger. Believable characters, both the good guys and the bad guys.
I plan to read the other books in this series.
This book has action, violence, criminals, romance and Texas Rangers. Rangers Jack, J.R., and Tracker meet Mary Hardy, her daughter Anne and school teacher Laura while carrying out their duty as rangers.
I enjoyed this book but there were the misused and misspelled words that are distracting. Also, please, genders of horses should be correct in westerns.
I thought this might be an interesting book with a strong female lead, but it turned out to be a romance novel with a western background. I read the sample first, and thought - good strong female and male lead characters and action. But it went downhill from there, with everyone ending up paired off, and no surprises. I don't mind romance, but this seemed rather juvenile.
